Acquabuona Amalfi Coast April 2012
I couldn't imagine a nicer property or a better location in Positano. The terrace was AMAZING and provided us with spectacular views of the town and the coast. The property itself was gorgeous, and it was very nice having all of that space after being in hotels during the rest of our vacation in Italy. It was certainly a great way to end the trip. Everything was first class from beginning to the end, from the help James and Lori provided in reserving the property to the way we were able to select a list of groceries that were at the villa upon our arrival. Soon after we arrived, we enjoyed wine, cheese, and bread out on the terrace. Paola was wonderful as well. She helped me keep the villa a secret from my wife (it was a surprise for her birthday) right up until the time we arrived, and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Hi Lori. Sorry I am just now replying to the first email! Â Â My email has been messed up since we left. But I didn't care because we had the most wonderful Christmas vacation ever!!!!! Annagloria and Enzo are so wonderful and helpful. Their children were as well. They gave all 5 children presents during the week and for Christmas day. They decorated with a tree and nativity scene. The property is so beautiful and the town of Tavernelle is so close and the people so friendly. Â Each day either Enzo or Annagloria came to check on us and help us with directions and planning. The kids played soccer in the yard with their dog and played hide n seek in the olive groves. Marta the cook was wonderful. Cindy the tour guide was awesome. And Wynn the owner of al macerata( i think that was the name) was so gracious on Christmas day and the meal was Delicioso. Because of your and James's care and guidance and info our time was enjoyable not spent running around trying to figure things out. Y'all were a blessing to me and my family. Lovely place. Needs a little more storage space in the kitchen. Michela and her parents are very sweet and took great care of us. James and Lori, Everything was perfect. The Bella Vista apartment was just as it looked in the photos and we enjoyed every minute of our stay there. Paola and Anna were wonderful and very helpful, as were the family at the alimentari down the street. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! We want to especially thank you for recommending Gennaro Fusco Taxi for transportation. He drove us from Naples to Positano and back, and he also took us to Pompeii (on very short notice on our part, as my husband was sick one day and we had to change our plans). We would highly recommend him to anyone who needs transportation to Positano. Since he is a lifelong resident of Positano, he is very knowledgeable and helpful. We were so glad that we did not choose to rent a car when we saw how narrow and winding the roads were and how fast everyone drove, as well as parking being at a premium in Positano. Thank you James, for recommending that we not get a car. We also enjoyed a wonderful meal at a restaurant called Mediterraneo on Via Pasitea(recommended by the captain of the boat tour that we took to Capri). The food was excellent and there was a delightful guitar player who went around to all the tables singing in Italian and talking with everyone. The sons of the owner also came around and gave everyone a lot of attention and made recommendations about menu choices. We would definitely recommend this place to others. James and Lori, What can we say, we had a fantastic time during our trip to Rome and the beautiful Amalfi Coast. The villas of Bellavista and Il Salone were perfect and both Anna and Paula were wonderful. All of your local recommendations and suggestions were spot on and the trip was magical. We spent three days lounging at the various beaches and enjoying the local beach restaurants, one day on private launch to Capri and your suggested restaurant on the other side of island, (one of the best meals of all), ferry to Amalfi (forgettable) but pure magic and wonder in Ravello and another truly spectacular meal for lunch at Cupo Cosimo. Drinks on terrace at San Pietro hotel was a treat and a highlight. The Positano car service was excellent, prompt pick-up in Naples and a combined ride back with side trip to Pompeii. Naples was not very nice but we enjoyed an afternoon at San Francesco al Monte poolside and dinner on site before heading home. Thank you for all of your help in coordinating a truly memorable trip. Villa la Capanna Tuscan Countryside September 2011
Hi Lori, We had a wonderful stay at La Capanna. It was perfect for the 3 of us, and would be for 4, but no more than that. The bedrooms were very nice--good beds, nicely decorated, good closet space, and the air units cooled nicely. The views were wonderful and the patio area was lovely. We loved this area, which was new to us. I would describe the pool as a "splash" or dipping pool, since it is tiny--but great for cooling off. I would also definitely do the pre-shopping for groceries again. Thank you so much for our dinner from Nadia. The food was excellent and we certainly had leftovers, which was great. What a treat!! (And totally unexpected!!) You really came through for us in a last minute situation--you're the best. We are looking to go back for the month of May and possibly early June, or late April. Possibly starting in Positano/Sorrento area, Tuscany again, and then the Lakes region. Are you getting anything smaller in that area? We totally trust your choice of villas--both have been exactly as advertised, and even better, and your recommendations are invaluable. We had a great week at La Colombaia. Our host, Bruno, and his staff made this an incredible trip! They made us welcome and gave us great tips on how to get around, where to eat and what to see at the places we visited. The email information you provided was very helpful. The Birthday dinner at Osteria di Passignano was excellent and the staff there was very considerate to our needs and especially the surprise of our friends meeting our group for dinner. We really enjoyed Villa Lamole, tell James that for once his pictures did not do the place justice�it was actually nicer and roomier than the photo's indicated! We really enjoyed both wine festivals�.what a great opportunity to taste so many producers of Chianti's wines in a huge side by side comparison. There were 41 producers in Greve and 19 in Panzano. Overall I liked the Panzano event and location better�but both were excellent. Fell in love with a small wine makers Chianti Classico Reserva called VEGI I think from Castellina�..second favorite was Vecchie Terre Di Montefili Chianti Classico Riserva�..both were excellent traditional wines. Do you know if both wine festivals happen back to back like that again next year? If they do I might be able to pull together a trip with 4 or 5 couples�.how do your rentals in Panzano look next year during the festivals? Hope you and James are both well, Tim C. Fort Worth, TX

We enjoyed out time at Vigna very much. Gabriele, the manager of the property was very helpful in general. The swimming pool at Vigna was very comfortable. It had sweeping stairs in the pool by which one could walk into the pool, and there was a shallow end. Thus, that pool worked well for the very young (our grandson) and the "getting old," Larry and I who are in our late 60's. One shared washing machines and dryers with the other rentors and this worked very well for everyone. Also, the fact that the property is airconditioned was very important. Although we were there in September, it was quite warm, but much more importantly, the aircodntioning permitted us to keep windows and doors closed, and the tremendous number of biting insects out. Parking was also easier ot Vigna. There is a small marking area close to the swimming pool for all cars. The fact that one could walk into town from the villa was very important for our stay. Within five minutes of accepting the keys I fell. Luckily Paula was close by and had a doctor at the villa within minutes. She was marvelous as was Anna, and although I couldn't be very mobile, I couldn't have had a more beautiful place to recuperate. I had some difficulty with your web link but your service was wonderful and James couldn't have been more patient and helpful. This was by far the most satisfying rental I have experienced and look forward to next year when hopefully I can plan a return trip. The property was lovely and located in a most desirable area, allowing us time spent in wonderful nearby villages as well as the charming village of San Casciano de Bagni. The most outstanding and wonderful feature was the incredible owner, Francesca and her personal attention to us and our every need, as well as her family's involvement. Casamare in Positano was absolutely wonderful! The condition of the property is excellent. The location, views and amenities are the best we have experienced for a villa vacation. We planned on spending most of our time at the villa property (as opposed to day tripping, etc.) and we loved every minute of it! The Web site is user friendly. Villa was as pictured. Rooms very comfortable. Bedrooms are large and should explain that European double beds are even bigger than our Queen beds in case people get nervous that beds not big enough. I'm glad the survey came......it reminded me that I wanted to write you a note of thanks! The villa was even better than we remembered and our memories were quite favorable!! There were some great improvements like the outdoor wood grill and the pergola by the pool. The showers are enclosed now too and the new couches were nice. The kitchen was perfect for preparing meals......everyone in our group is a cook, so it functioned very well for prep, cooking and clean up. Chrisina cooked two fabulous meals for us too. It was nice to see her again and she remembered our family from our previous stay which thrilled our daughters. As for the Mitchell family, they have traveled extensively. They have a handful of favorite places and the villa is now on that very short list. Now they fully understand why we love Palazzuolo so much!! We never doubted that they would love it the same way. We hope to return sooner than the time span between this and the last visit! We have a very nice group of couples that we are friends with and we thought it might be fun to one day rent Palazzuolo and Colle Aperto in tandem and have a great Tuscan retreat with a fun group of Chicago friends. Dear Lori, Thank-you so much! What a great venue! You did us a great favour in directing us to Rombolino. It was better than any of us expected - and so much more. The villa itself was beautiful, both in the renovation and the interior design. It was so special and it took our collective breath away. I think we've all been on vacations at some point in our lives where the hype does live up to the reality; at Rombolino the pictures and descriptions didn't do the place justice. It was truly magic, peaceful, stunning we all loved it. We are already talking about a return visit - and some of us haven't returned from Rome yet! (In fact if we had known it was available the following week some would have worked very hard to stay on for a few more days ay least). We tried to persuade Giovanaa to come back to the US with us we were quite happy to kidnap her if necessary. She is a gem, the villa comes to life in her capable hands - everything seemed effortless and no request was too much trouble. Brilliant! You know it was really hard to think of anything you need to improve with a property like this, we are torn as to blow trumpets of public applause or hide this find for ourselves rather selfishly. Dear Lori and James; I have just returned from a magical and magnificent early October week at La Colombaia villa near Greve in Chianti. The villa is breathtakingly beautiful both inside and out with rich and deep character that captured my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Our group of eight women began each day with coffee on the terrace overlooking spectacular vistas of olive groves and vineyards. Each day offered a new adventure because the location is ideal for drives into Florence, Siena, Lucca and other delightful towns such as Volterra and San Gimignano to shop and explore but allowing ample time to return to La Columbaia in time to enjoy a glass or two of delicious local wine on the terrace or in one of the elegant and sitting rooms before enjoying the culinary delights perfectly prepared by Rosa and her assistant. The dining room fire place was lit on cool evenings which added to the warm ambience of this room. We were very pleased with the comfortable beds, hot showers and other modern amenities such as satellite TV and internet. Our host, the very distinguished Bruno made himself available for advice and guidance including making arrangements for some of our group to visit Venice for the day, making restaurant reservations and taking me to the doctor when I became ill. The best vacation I ever had. Il Cilegio was even better than the website described -- plenty of room for all of us and quite comfortable. Kitchen was great as well as the views from the master and the pool read -- fantastic!! As always, the Via Destinations was a huge help in helping us plan our itinerary; only wish we could have done more, but we wanted to relax, too. The restaurant recommendations in almost all cases were superb -- especially Lamole, Albergaccio and Badia a Coltibuono (our favorite) My son, the chef, said during the appetizer that he was going to cry during the meal because it was so good.) We really enjoyed our stay at Villa la Capanna. Federica is a charming hostess who met us at the house and gave us all the information needed. The caretaker, Guilliano, was wonderful and checked on the property early every morning to clean the pool, pick up trash etc. The people of San Giovanni d'Asso were very friendly and welcoming and the village is perfectly located for day trips to Tuscan hill towns like Pienza and Montalcino, and also Siena and Florence. Dear Lori and James, We returned home two days ago and are still catching up with emails and paperwork. Our stay in Tuscany was phenomenal. La Casaccia is as beautiful as it was when we first stayed there 5 years ago. And Marcella greeted us all with a big smile and proceeded to feed us non stop. Her cooking is superb, and she made all our celebrations magical, with beautiful table settings and delicious food. Each night was better than the previous one. We also got the opportunity to meet Giorgio and Ilaria. Despite their busy schedule (they were setting up for a photo shoot) Ilaria gave us a tour of Rombolino. It is as beautiful as the photos you sent me. Our winery visit was one of the highlights of our stay. The workers were sorting the Sangiovese grapes into the press, and our host, Nadine, was very thorough in her explanations. Lunch was set in a very elegant room overlooking the Frescobaldi vineyards, and the wines we tasted were all excellent. This was truly an experience of a lifetime. Soli and I want to thank you for the 3 bottles of Veuve Clicquot you left for us. This was unexpected and much appreciated. We enjoyed them the night of our 30th anniversary celebration. Villa Francesca was a truly magical property. Perfect for our family gathering-which included 7 children, mostly teenagers. The pool and gardens were just right for them (and their parents!). The bedrooms were spacious, as were the bathrooms. Kitchen and other common rooms were extremely comfortable and well-appointed. The village of San Casciano was our favorite in all of Tuscany- no tourists, and very charming. The locals could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The food prepared by Rosanna and Francesca was absolutely perfect every night. The two of them were so easy to have around, and they fed us VERY well. Nuomi (sp?) set out a lovely breakfast each morning, and did a thorough job of cleaning the houses each day. We all agree that our week at Villa Francesca was the best part of our 18-day Italy vacation. For me, waking up each morning to the wonderful smells of lavender and rosemary wafting up from the gardens, and looking our over those beautiful Tuscan hills, is something I will never forget. Acquabuona Amalfi Coast July 2010
I wanted to write to you to tell you how so very much we loved Acquabona and our week at the Villa. We started our trip off with our first visit to Capri and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days there, it is beautiful but quite busy when the day trippers come over. We did get to eat at La Fontellina for lunch and that was well worth it, thanks for the tip. Our trip over to Positano from Capri went over without a hitch too. I called Paola and arranged for our meeting early the next morning and she had the baggage porters waiting for us as our ferry arrived. We had lunch and then met her to go to the Villa. She is quite pleasant and professional and quickly gave us the details on the villa's equipment workings, keys, etc. Our weather was beautiful except for a few days they blamed on an "African heatwave" which pushed the temperature to the high nineties coupled with humidity and little air movement, but we are used to that. We also got up to Montepertuso and had a lovely lunch at Il Ritrovo. Theresa said to say hi to you and they were kind to treat us to a prosecco and bruschetta. We purchased many supplies at the small Delikatessen right down the steps in Positano and came to enjoy the owners and workers there who were also quite nice and helpful. The villa is perfectly located with beautiful views, a lovely pool and excellent facilities. So we left Positano for some time in Sorrento, then Naples and visits to the palace of Casserta and the abbey at Montecasino on our way home. We will always remember this as one of our most beautiful trips anchorerd of course with the week we spent at Acquabuona. Thanks for all of your professional assistance and precision with the details, web site, lease and telephone help too. I know we will want to return again to one of your villas. This was our second time staying at Vigna - The property was in perfect condition and the lavender and rosemary bushes were in full perfume. This is causing a real dilemma as it may prevent us from traveling anywhere else. It was just as perfect as the first time. We still can't believe the views from the property and the convenience to town can't be beat. It was terrific. We will likely book it again. And again. We found La Colombaia to be ideal in every way for our family holiday. It is perfectly situated in Tuscany with ease of access to Florence (30 minutes), Siena (45 minutes) and Lucca (1 hour). The villa itself has so many entertainment and relaxation options that our family, ranging in age from 2 to 60, all found things to do when not sightseeing. It was very thoughtful of you to call and provide cake for our special dinner. The directions to find the place were accurate and essential and used more than once to find our way home from day trips. We made day trips to Florence, Siena, Montepulciano, Radicofani and a winery resort near Montalcino (Castiglione del Bosco). I see you have Mike's comments up on Rombolino's website. He and his wife (and the rest of us) were truly impressed by the beauty of the villa, decoration and the vistas in every direction. We called on Elisa several times for various directions and other needs and she was always very responsive. Giovanna was a major highlight of our trip since she not only a fantastic cook but a delightful and helpful person who tried to satisfy all of our diet and beverage needs. Il Gelso and Fienile were beautiful and much better than the pictures indicate (as you had suggested). It was the perfect spot for all 15 of us to have our own space but also enjoy each other's company. We had great weather and took maximum advantage of the outdoors and the pool. We couldn't take enough pictures! Sammie was extremely helpful and always so pleasant. Mimmo and his dinners - outstanding! We ate outside both nights that he cooked for us and sat for hours enjoying the food, wine and his conversation! Panzano proved to be the perfect place for us to invade and we enjoyed the Sunday market, coffee in the mornings and another market one evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Osteria Panzanelle - great service, great food and very reasonable prices. We explored many of the towns around Panzano (Greve, Radda, Castellina) and had a great lunch and tour of the Castle Brolio and took the bus to Florence for the day. It gave me a chance to spend some time with my family and recharge my batteries. I did actually find a small course in Italy where I was able to hit a few balls. We saw a lot of the country! The villa itself was beautiful, both in the renovation and the interior design. It was so special and it took our collective breath away. I think we've all been on vacations at some point in our lives where the hype does live up to the reality; at Rombolino the pictures and descriptions didn't do the place justice. It was truly magic, peaceful, stunning we all loved it. We are already talking about a return visit - and some of us haven't returned from Rome yet! (In fact if we had known it was available the following week some would have worked very hard to stay on for a few more days ay least). We tried to persuade Giovana to come back to the US with us we were quite happy to kidnap her if necessary. She is a gem, the villa comes to life in her capable hands - everything seemed effortless and no request was too much trouble. Brilliant! You know it was really hard to think of anything you need to improve with a property like this, we are torn as to blow trumpets of public applause or hide this find for ourselves rather selfishly. Rufus and I are now home after a most amazing three weeks in Tuscany. Our stay at Torre in Panzano far surpassed our expectations!! The apartment was comfortable with gorgeous views. The staff was cheerful, helpful, and eager to please. The food, wine, and sites were all extraordinary!!! We truly had a wonderful time. Even the weather could not dampen our enthusiasm......all the locals were fed up with the cool rainy days. They said it was an unusual spring, three weeks behind. It certainly didn't stop us. We are now thinking about doing the same visit to either Spain or Portugal......living in one place for several weeks. Do you have any suggestions or contacts? Your advice would be most appreciated. Hi Lori and James, Thanks for asking about my husband, Tom. He is much better from having shingles, but he really was not up to foreign travel. I, however, am so happy that I went. I really loved staying at Bellavista. It's just a superb apartment and I'm often daydreaming about the view now that I'm home. It seems unreal now. I miss it so much! I just filled out the online survey and wanted to say thank you. It was a pleasure booking through via travel design. Everything was so expertly arranged. Paola was wonderful and the arrival instructions were so easy and everything went so smoothly. Paola set up a cooking class for us at Il Ritrovo and it was one of the highlights of our trip. It was pouring rain that day so it was the perfect day to be up the mountain cooking. The information you provided on what to do and see and restaurants was all very helpful. By the way, we randomly met the couple who stayed in Il Saraceno one day while walking the steps of Positano. It was like meeting old friends and they told us how much they loved it. I think for me, though, traveling with a friend, Bellavista was more ideal. I guess everything works out for a reason. But we took a private boat ride down the Amalfi Coast and Il Saraceno looked perfectly situated. Thanks again! I wish I could book another trip to Positano right now for the spring/summer, but I'll have to settle for staring at the two paintings that I bought of the town. I love that little town and we had fun with Dario and his wife, and Solociccia was lots of fun as you predicted. Since we were already 14 just one other couple sat with us and although they seemed a little overwhelmed with our group at first, soon we were all having a great time together. Signora Vittoria made us THE most delicious dinners. Oh, if I could only make pasta as delicious and delicately as she does!! Everyone was very helpful. Although we all were pretty much able to figure things out on our own Lara and Brian gave us some really good suggestions, too, that we took advantage of. The villa is simply beautiful � the only complaint we had was that the lighting could have been better for reading. All in all it was a fantastic, memorable trip and one we will never forget! Thank you so much, too, for the wonderful bottle of wine and the birthday card for my mother and me! Of course, we shared it with the rest of the gang. We took the tour of the winery and sampled some wines but we had already had several bottles of them so no mystery there! Excellent! Our uncle helped out with the grape harvesting and enjoyed every minute of it � he did that for three days! He�s going to be 80 in February but still as sprite as ever. Dear Lori and James, We had a great time in Loggia Panzano and elsewhere in Tuscany during our stay there. The only thing that was not wonderful was Joan's absence, but she just could not go. Kathleen really enjoyed it and was a great driver the whole week. I never had to get behind the wheel! She is as much in love with Tuscany as the rest of the family. We did make the wine festival on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. It was raining both days but that did not detract a great deal from the event. We saw Monica there with 2 house guests she had for that week and then again on Friday evening before our dinner at Mimmo's. Incidentally that was a delightful experience. There was general agreement that it was the best meal we had during our stay. Thanks very much for the recommendation. Monica has been traveling a lot and looked very well. As always the estate in general and Loggia in particular were terrific. The accommodations were superb. We ate a meal in all of the four possible places, including cooking some of Dario's great beef on the outdoor grill and eating it on the patio. Lara was very helpful and seems to be an able replacement for Monica and Anila was great as always. This home was beautiful! The pictures cannot do it justice. The doors in each bed room that open up to the view made every morning magical. While it was a bit strange for us Americans to have a house keeper every day, and for the house keeper to come in without notice, we quickly got comfortable with Rosanna and realized that she takes tremendous pride in managing the house and always made us feel comfortable. We felt like princesses! The owner was very kind and presented us with fabulous wine. The restaurant just down the stairs was our favorite and we got to be friends with the entire staff. Loved them. Enza and the cleaning assistant were the best, always happy to tend to all our needs. The boat trip was perfect and Ricardo took us to very special places in the Amalfi coast. The covered patio was a true bonus. Having comfortable couches and chairs there was the ultimate. The only improvement would be air conditioning, however the fans provided were perfect. The only reason I make that comment is that it was over 40 C while we were there. Thanks again to Roberto for filling the fridge for us. Vigna is an amazing property and Panzano is truly awesome. Just the right size to make it "home" and centrally located for lots of day trips if you can make yourself leave the property. We loved walking through town and our children felt right at home. Restaurants were excellent both in Panzano and neighboring towns. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and we felt like we really got to know them. We also met some really nice people who were staying in another Villa on site. We were sad to leave! To our friends at Via Travel Design, Our family’s time spent at Via Lambertesca was absolutely the highlight of our summer. We could not have imagined the luxury of this apartment that combines every modern convenience with the charm and beauty of the historic center of Florence. From the minute we stepped into the building with its beautiful décor we were greeted by Grace, who could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. When she accompanied us to the apartment and opened the door we immediately felt at home. The furnishings and every small detail at Via Lambertesca are of the highest quality and it is obvious that great care was taken in the renovation of the entire palazzo. Absolutely wonderful, like a dream, beyond expectations. The location in Tuscany is amazing, so many little towns, restaurants, half way between Florence and Siena. The kitchen is like something out of Master Chef, it has everything in it , every item of equipment for cooking you could possibly want. The resident owners are friendly and helpful but never obtrusive. The pool and gardens were immaculately maintained. Palazzo Vescovi had to be the MOST beautiful place on earth I have seen so far! I am in love with Positano and a part of my soul is left there at the palazzo. Our chef, Enza, was fabulous and I never left home at night because our days were so full, the dinner so satisfying, that I had no need to leave our palace! Diana was wonderful and helpful every time we had questions or needed advice. The only thing that I would add is the issue of the amount of stairs you have to climb to reach the property. If a person was not in good physical condition, there would be no way for them to deal with those stairs! Towards the end, my legs were finally used to it, but the first few days were physically draining. It was truly worth it once we arrived, but anyone who cannot climb lots of stairs should not stay here. Otherwise, it was heaven on earth. The location certainly made the villa more appealing since it was a palace in a place all its own. I am a changed person after being there and the people I met are in my heart and soul for my lifetime! I wish I could have stayed for way longer! That was the only negative for me....two or three weeks next time for sure! I am now going to learn Italian as well. The Rosetta Stone was good for a few phrases, but I am determined to become fluent in the language before I go again! We even experienced the remarkable firework display to honor St. Vito, the patron saint of Positano that rivaled those I saw in Boston in 1976!!!! Remarkable is not a strong enough word though! Hi Lori, I wanted to send you a personal email to tell you that you were absolutely right about La Colonna being a perfect spot for our family! It was so wonderful being able to walk up the hill to the town, which was more of a bustling town than we envisioned. Our grand kids made use of the little playground in town several times, and of course, we all enjoyed the bar with the gelato. We did indulge ourselves one night at Dario's for the beef dinner - it was a great experience, delicious food and a fun atmosphere. We also went up to Vescovino and had a delicious meal there - a gorgeous warm evening out on the terrace watching the sunset over the vineyards - what could be more perfect?! We also took your advice and went early to the Panzano market on Sunday and bought roast chicken and some delicious kebabs and other fixings for a good dinner that night. Regarding the villa itself I wanted to say that Lara, the manager is outstanding. She is so warm and friendly and helpful. Also Annila the housekeeper was always there to help with any minor thing. They both came to the house as we were packing to leave and both bid us a warm farewell with hugs all around. Lara arranged for Maria to prepare dinner for us one night and we really enjoyed that -- what a charming lady and a very good cook! Lara also arranged for us to visit the family winery where we had a brief tour and a tasting -- their Chianti is wonderful and we enjoyed the 2 complimentary bottles which Lara gave us when we checked in. Guy and I have never been to Italy in June and we were dreading overcrowded cities like Firenze and Siena, but did not find it bad. One advantage of being there in June (which was a big deal to me since I love gardening) was seeing so many plants and shrubs in bloom. The oleanders were as tall as a small tree and in full bloom, the stone walls were covered with jasmine, the lavender bushes were huge and wonderfully scented. We were very impressed with the landscaping around La Colonna - it is very lushly planted and meticulously maintained. Sorry I'm rambling on -- you can tell how pleased we were with everything. La Colonna was a perfect size for our family - plenty of room for the little ones to run around outside and blow off energy -- plenty of privacy for couples in their own bedroom areas -- and a nice spacious living area. Hi Lori and James, Well the busy summer is finally over and as I reflect on all the things we did, our visit to Positano comes right to the top. Our one week stay at Villa Donatello in May 2009 is a memory we will all cherish. The villa was everything we hoped for and more. We were a party of six adults and one infant and the villa fit us perfectly room wise. There was lots of space both inside and out so we never felt crowded or too close together. The villa is beautifully furnished but we spent most of our time outside under the lemon tree enjoying the beautiful views. Roseanne looked after our every need and was always ready answer questions and give advice about what to do and how to get there. Her mother came one evening to prepare a typical Italian dinner and it was wonderful! Certainly a highlight of the week! A nice touch was that on the evening of our arrival the owner of the villa called to welcome us and make sure we were well accommodated. Amazing property, beautiful setting and a great slice of history. I think that we were early in the season, heat was definitely needed in Il Saraceno at night and we did get it turned back on. Loved, loved the location and privacy. Great to have the separate annex for our son. Views amazing ++++ ... would love to return at some point later in the season, when warmer, pool functioning etc. All adjunct staff great, Car service could not have been better.. used them alot. Your list of side trips etc. was super. Name and city withheld by request

The 'Great' rating is not superlative enough to describe the quality of both your service and the properties. This is the second time we have rented an Italian country house from your firm. Our initial experience two years ago was so positive that I decided use your service again. Unfortunately, the Villa Barberino house was not available. James helped me find another property, La Colonna in Panzano, that he felt would accomodate my family's needs. I was skeptical at first as it was a property comprising several apartments. James assured me that privacy was well provided for and that there was the added benefit of being able to walk to town. He was correct on both counts. Each apartment(and I use the term loosely since ours was more a two story house) had it's own private terrace with it's own outdoor seating and grill. The grounds were lovely, landscaped in lavender, rosemary (which I used for cooking)and roses. Alina, the housekeeper was kind and helpful as was Lara, the property manager. There was absolutely no misunderstanding what was included in the contract. There were no hidden 'extra costs' as friends of mine renting from other agencies had discovered. Panzano was delightful. The restaurants you recommended served excellent Tuscan cuisine with great wine selections. My 12 year old daughter and her cousin were able to make their daily 'gelato run' into town for their favorite dessert. (Thanks, James.) All in all, we had a marvelous time at this wonderful property. Your Web site was what first attracted me to your agency. It has a modern, uncluttered look with many photos of each property. I like how you keep adding helpful information such as if a town is in walking distance. The more information the better! Just one additional comment--in Tuscany you hear the word 'artisanal' used frequently to describe high quality, hand-crafted foods, arts and crafts. There was absolutely no misunderstanding what was included in the contract. There were no hidden 'extra costs' as friends of mine renting from other agencies had discovered. Panzano was delightful. The restaurants you recommended served excellent Tuscan cuisine with great wine selections. My 12 year old daughter and her cousin were able to make their daily 'gelato run' into town for their favorite dessert. (Thanks, James.) All in all, we had a marvelous time at this wonderful property. Your Web site was what first attracted me to your agency. It has a modern, uncluttered look with many photos of each property. I like how you keep adding helpful information such as if a town is in walking distance. The more information the better! Just one additional comment--in Tuscany you hear the word 'artisanal' used frequently to describe high quality, hand-crafted foods, arts and crafts. Acquabuona is a fab property, can't beat the views! It offers a lot of privacy and is an authentic Positano home. Walking the stairs to the pool and beach allowed us to enjoy unlimited guilt free gelato! A terrific holiday. We would definitely stay there again. I could almost smell the scent of those amazing yellow flowers Graziela brought in to the house every day and feel the breeze and hear the bees floating about. Greetings, Lori and James....Not a day goes by that Bob and I don't reminisce in some small way about our 2 weeks at Il Saraceno this past May. Vacationing in our own private fortress overlooking the Mediterranean was a scene right out of a postcard, only we were part of the scenery! Our living quarters were so uniquely 'old world' and steeped in history that it was easy to believe we were becoming more Italian with each day. And the 27 curving stone stairway to the decorative tile bathroom was always worth the trip, helping us work up an appetite for our next glorious meal, whether under our own pergola or at one of the many remarkable outdoor restaurants that are so prevalent in Positano. We were especially delighted to have our own kitchen (with wiew of Positano in the distance), and the ability to prepare a platter of fresh hearty bread, a variety of local cheeses, an assortment of native olives, and a fine red wine to enjoy outdoors on our patio. And as if this weren't sufficient for the vacation of a lifetime, we were thrilled to have access to the stone staiway leading to the Mediterranean Sea, where I made certain to take a swim while a dramatic view of the rocky cliffs surrounded me, as Bob took photos to savor the memory for all time. Hi Lori, From the first moment we arrived at the villa, until the moment we left, our experience was purely magical. Although the villa looked amazing on the website, it was even more incredible (if you can believe it) in person. No detail was overlooked. The villa was clearly restored with considerable care, and decorated perfectly. The location cannot be beat, either. The views were gorgeous, particularly at night when the local hilltop towns were lit. Anna our house-woman was wonderful. She and Paula (the cook) organized an incredible welcome dinner for us that was quite a feast. Breakfast was always plentiful as well. Any need we had she tended to it immediately, always reassuring us we were in the very best hands. Elisabetta was very accommodating and a delight; always making sure everyone was taken care of. The local towns at night were a nice respite after going to more popular places like Florence and Siena during the day. Ribolla was charming and we befriended the ambitious owner, Jhonny, of a new restaurant, Amici. In Montepescalli (a local hill town) we found the Falcon restaurant, which left us wondering how we could replicate such an intimate, tantalizing meal back home. Roccatederighi, another hill town, was great for more tasty meals and great views of Tuscany. Last but not least, the villa certainly lent itself to being a wonderful place to entertain. Since we had our wedding at the villa, in the days preceding the villa was home-base for the guests staying nearby. There was always something to do: play ping pong, go for a swim, relax in a lounge, read a book, go on a jog, ride a bike, or play a round of golf (although we regrettably never got around to doing that). We had breakfast at the hotel each morning and spent the last night there before leaving for Naples, so our last day was spent on their veranda. Your suggestion for our driver was the best. Lori and James, Everything about the Villa Palazzuolo was wonderful. We met our group (total 9 of us) at the Chiusi train station and had a 3 car caravan to the Villa which took less than 1/2 an hour. When we got out of the car and saw that view from the Villa, everyone was speechless. The Val d' Orcia must be one of the most beautiful places I've been to in all my travels. As we entered the house and discovered every room, both the men and women were gushing with enthusiasm. The Villa is fairly large, but we tended to congregate in the dining area off the kitchen or outside in the patio area. We were not looking for a rustic villa, so this villa was perfect for our group of 6 women and 3 men. We loved the owner's decorating style. I have to mention Cristina. She is an incredible woman. Can she cook! We had her cook for us on 4 separate occasions and each time was like a feast. Her pastas were excellent and her desserts were my absolute favorite. Even though she speaks very little English and we speak no Italian, we seemed to communicate fine. She took care of us -- she even killed a snake outside the back door one night that was in the path of one of my friends. We all wanted to bring Cristina home with us. The real lesson that we all learned was that renting a villa for the week ended up being very economical for us and we had a "home away from home" that we yearned to go back to every day after touring the countryside. The best time was sitting outside with all of our friends, looking over the valley below, drinking wine and exchanging stories of our daily outings. Yes, I absolutely hope to return to this area and quite possibly to this Villa again in the future. This trip was better than I could have imagined. If anyone is contemplating whether or not to stay at a Villa, I would wholeheartedly tell them to do it. This was a once in a lifetime vacation for all of us and especially for me since we were celebrating my 50th birthday! You have one of the best websites that I have found on the web (and I looked at quite a few over the course of several months). The pictures really show what the Villa looked like and so I didn't feel there were any real surprises. I liked the fact that 1) you were here in the US and it made it easier to deal with you as opposed to dealing with someone in Italy, 2) You were always professional and, 3) You answered my emails immediately. The house was exactly as described and seen in the pictures. Although the pictures do not give the spectacular views it's rightful justice. We used your guide of the area frequently and found it extremely helpful. Teresa the caretaker is very sweet and is a tremendous cook. I would recommend Casa Stefania and your services to anyone. Our 25th Wedding Anniversary was very 'Special' , Thanks to the wonderful location of this property, we were thrilled and more than happy with our choice. We would be happy to recommend Il Saraceno to anyone who wishes to celebrate a special occasion in the future, we hope to return again someday as we love Italy so much, Positano was more than we had hoped for too. The call from the owner when we got there and the wonderful attitude of Rosanna, the housekeeper, made the experience very nice. The location was great and we all lost weight hiking up the 900 steps from the beach. Other than a few ants and bugs, everything was perfect. I would encourage anybody to stay there if they want to really experience Positano and have a wonderful time. We went to Capri and rented a boat and cruised the Amalfi Coast and just relaxed on the beach. Our friends in the penthouse loved their place and we all enjoyed the incredible view from their deck. We also loved having the little market and being able to make our own Italian dinner a couple of nights. Our group had a wonderful stay at La Casaccia. Marcella's food was fantastic. We did a day trip to Florence, via train, on Tuesday (Marcella's day off). Very exhausting but fun. Our visits to Castillo Banfi and Poggio Antico, both south of Montalcino, were excellant. Good restaurants and tours followed by shopping in Montalcino. Casa Stefania was wonderful. In fact, it exceeded our expectations. The pictures of the views on the website don't do justice to the actual fact. The views were spectacular. Teresa was absolutely wonderful. Kept the place great and even did all our laundry. We had her cook a delicious meal and she served it out on the terrace. Truly delightful. One, the previous clients had commented on how valuable the recommendations were in the email. And they were 100% correct. James was kind enough to supply a short list from the longer list of recommendations and we did almost every one. Without exception, they were all excellent choices. Didn't even have to think! In particular, lunch at La Fontelina on Capri was perhaps my fondest memory of the whole trip....the Faragolini rocks, wow! This was a fantastic property and exceeded our expectations! The views and balcony's were gorgeous. The inside, was functional and well maintained. The bedrooms are small but that did not bother us. Although it was not located in the center of town, the location was still great with many restaurants which were fantastic and not as crowded as the beach area establishments. We received great service from the staff, including cleaning almost everyday. We had problems with the hot water and they came out immediately to correct the problem. This was an overall fantastic experience. We all would like to thank via travel design for all of your assistance as well as the owners of Casa Lorenzo for opening their spectacular home to us. We had a marvelous time at Colle Aperto. I cried when I had to say ciao to Graziella. I don't have the words to describe what I experienced under that Tuscan sun which are adequate to give people I tell about my trip to. Something happened deep within my soul there that I hope stays with me forever. The place is incredibly spiritual for me, and I still can't believe that I was there and took a tubby under the Tuscan sun. Graziella was such a treasure for us. She took care of us like we were family and I really hated to say goodbye to her. The smell of whatever those yellow bushes were is hopefully imprinted in my senses somehow. By the way, what were they? The smell in the house was something I wish I could have bottled and taken home with me. Thank you for everything though. We really had one of the most exquisite vacations ever. My 11 year old son also loved every bit of it. The cartoon network was a bit of a lifesaver for him too. We loved it, especially the terrace. Positano was wonderful and all the steps worked off our big meals. Two restaurants we really liked were Il Fornillo, also very close to the villa and Next2, a new restaurant. Our driver, Sergio from Flavio Gioia was excellent and we used them a few times. We found the giant mosquitos difficult at night and would bring netting or something if returning. Also, the steps to the pool were difficult for some of the guests, the pictures do not reflect this. Oh, and that access road...But, no problems of that sort could diminish the beauty of our experience at Colle Aperto, it has changed us forever! Colle Aperto, is paradise! We feel no other vacation home can compare to that experience. You have a great website. I often click through it if I've had a bad day at work and need a mini-escape. The main living space of this house (i.e. family room, dining room, porch) was particularly easy to maneuver with a big group due to its excellent layout and lots of access to the outdoor sitting/dining areas. Bedrooms were impeccably but comfortably furnished, as were public areas. Laundry facilities were a major bonus. The food hamper and other staples available at the house made our arrival and first few days very pleasant. I already new a great deal about Panzano before I even got there and visited many of the local businesses mentioned, including Macellaria Cecchini, La Cipressaia, and Il Vescovino. What a fantastic trip! And such an historic week to be in Rome!!! We were actually in the Vatican last Tuesday, just a few hours before the "white smoke" of the new pope. What are the chances of that! Via Lucullo was wonderful, and Olga couldn't have been more gracious. The information you guys provided was awesome--- we ate at Tullio and Papa Baccus and the Cafe de Paris (for old time sake). One thing--- the Room Restaurant across the street is closed, so you can update your info. Also, we found another little gem of a restaurant, Cantina Cantarini, Piazza Sallustio 12 (06 485 528/474 3341) just about a 4 minute walk along Via Sallustiana from Via Lucullo. It was homey, casual, with locals and families eating there--- a really high quality trattoria with extremely reasonable prices. I would recommend it. The only thing I would do differently is reserve a car from the airport in Rome, the detail of which slipped through my mind this time. Olga said, "Then you would arrive like a princess!" We saw lots of art, and actually found the Chapel of Pope Nicholas in the Vatican Museum where the Fra Angelico frescos were just as lovely as I remember them!! Thanks so much for all your input. The weather turned out to be great and the views breath taking. Moncia was wonderful and the meal that Orsa made one of the highlights, and we had many. The view was spectacular, the appointments in the apartment were excellent (the tiles in the bath rooms were as beautiful as we have seen), the location was terrific, and the people especially Monica but also Anila the housekeeper and everyone else we dealt with were wonderful. As I told Joan when we returned I wish we were leaving instead of arriving. Tuscany is such a magical place and the estate, Panzano and the surrounding area can't be beat. We had a very interesting tour of the winery (Marina who showed us around was a very pleasant knowledgable young woman). The wine festival on the last night we were there was superb In short we had a wonderful time and would go back again tomorrow if we could. Thanks for arranging it. Norma and Ophelia added a great deal to the experience -- they were the best. They spoiled us a bit too much though in that it now seems like a necessity to have someone around to prepare all the meals! That really made the vacation complete. Plus, our kids just loved them. The house was great - everything we expected it to be. I do have two suggestions about this particular house. The last two hundred yards of the dirt road up to the house is pretty rough. Some of our guests had cars with low ground clearance which would hit bottom on some of the pot holes. Our car had no problem. You might want to advise future guests to rent cars with normal or high ground clearance for this particular house. You also might want to add that the Val d' Orcia, which is your view from the house, is now a United Nations World Heritage site. James and Lori, We had a blast on our trip. Colle Aperto is beautiful and the scenery is absolutely spectacular--probably the prettiest in Tuscany. Graziella is so gracious and accommodating. Her meals were so good, she cooked for us almost every night. Sitting around the big table with 8 of our friends and having a true dining experience was wonderful.
