The hilltop hamlet is comprised of a small number of private homes and the Il Villaggio villas to rent:
Amiata is a three-bedroom villa, each bedroom has a king-bed, and is spaciously spread over three floors. Having been meticulously restored, this ancient stone dwelling has been made compellingly contemporary through the addition of state-of-the-art sound systems and the latest European style appliances.
As you walk in the entrance, two of the bedrooms are located on this floor. Each bedroom contains a king bed with luxurious cotton sheets and down pillows, a separate sitting area and ensuite bathroom with a relaxing rain shower and marble tub.
The balcony off the large salon offers panoramic views of the Val d'Orcia and Monte Amiata. This well-appointed living room has a beamed ceiling and a soothing color palette. The wood burning fireplace and comfortable sofas make this room a cozy haven to read, listen to music or watch television. A long dining table is situated nearby-perfect for gathering with friends or family. The modern and well-equipped kitchen and a bath are also located on this level.
An extraordinary bathroom in both size and finish boasts an open waterfall shower, spectacular whirlpool bath, rain shower over the whirlpool, and a steam room. It is like your own personal spa retreat. After your delightful spa experience, you will easily fall asleep in the luxurious king-size bed also located on this level. A separate sitting area completes this floor.
VILLA MURI ANTICHI
Muri Antichi is a stunning and sprawling six-bedroom villa, with a state-of-the-art kitchen and oversized marble baths that brings a modern counterpoint to the ancient and indigenous stone structure. A comprehensive and eclectic library, oversized wood-burning fireplaces, wine cellar carved from the mountainside all create a unique yet authentic Tuscan retreat. A private gym provides access to modern aerobic machines and weights, and private outdoor dining terraces provide the perfect setting for afternoon or evening escapes.
Upon entering the palatial six-bedroom Villa Muri Antichi, peruse the extensive library for personal reading or group discussion. Moreover, if you enjoy exercise, a private gym offers contemporary aerobic machines and workout equipment for your convenience. Subsequently, take advantage of the Lavender Garden, private outdoor dining terraces for afternoon and evening retreats.
Within the living room to the dining room the famed designer Ilaria Miani married old and new, utilizing furnishings and raw materials from Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, and Spain. Each high-end finish and fixture, from lights to faucets, has been artfully chosen. Additionally, with a wine cellar sculpted from Mount Amiata and a modern kitchen staffed with the Monteverdi private chef, no expense has been spared in the quest for authenticity and impact.
For ultimate privacy and convenience, each of the three sprawling bedrooms has its own spacious marble spa-like bath. Finally, conclude the day in the hearth room and escape by the oversized wood-burning fireplace.
Furthermore, the large master suites and bedrooms engender an airy atmosphere. You are immediately immersed in definitive character and unparalleled beauty from any vantage point. While your villa appears to be a classic Renaissance structure from the outside, it has the ambience of a contemporary residence inside.
Santo is a two-bedroom villa that is perfect for one or two couples as each bedroom offers privacy with their locations on separate floors. The masterpiece of this villa is the 1000 bottle private wine cellar-your villa-s most revered spot-filled with some of the region's finest wines from the Monteverdi private collection.
Retreat to the living room with handcrafted bookshelves filled with classic literature. An ultra-modern kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances awaits a dinner to be prepared by the Monteverdi chef. Unwind in the large and airy bedroom featuring a king-size bed as you surround yourself with the character and charm of this bedroom suite. Your own private luxury bathroom completes this relaxing retreat.
The master suite downstairs is a true haven for relaxation where you can lounge in lavish hand-sewn leather recliners or unwind on a king-size bed of hand-dyed linens. A generously sized bathroom and wonderfully contemporary rain shower will also help to refresh your spirits from head to toe.
Il Villaggio is in a uniquely private setting for sumptuous living. Part of a medieval masterpiece, the perfectly preserved village is perched on a rustic hillside, above the cypress-dotted fields of the Val d'Orcia. Once completely walled to defend against intruders, it is accessed by original gravel roads that wind through the picturesque countryside. An artful Sienese gate marks the front entry, where villagers still walk along ancient pathways to reach their homes today. Meander through these maze-like paths separating medieval stone dwellings and happen upon the historic Romanesque church of Sant' Andrea, whose piazza is a wonderful spot from which to reflect.
Gather with friends for meals in ageless gardens offering delightfully panoramic views of Monte Amiata. The beautiful lavender garden is an enticing spot to relax with a book or a glass of wine.
Just steps from the lavender garden you can explore one of the most interesting features in the hamlet, an on-going archaeological dig sponsored by the owner in collaboration with scholars at the University of Siena. This work-in-progress has unearthed an Etruscan figurine as well as the foundation of a castle which dates back to the 12th century.
