June 2014The villa was terrific..... Marcella, Elisa and the staff were terrific and most helpful Marcella's meals were better than those in the best restaurants in Italy!!! And we want to send them all a big THANK YOU for taking such good care of all 16 of us. They made our 50th celebration more special than imaginable.
Just a thank you to you both for the prompt reply to my endless emails. We had a BALL in the most beautiful Tuscan countryside.

August 2012The property was special and the staff was excellent. My family formed priceless memories during our stay. Thank you for the recommendation. Btw, you were spot on with Marcella's cooking. My wife, friends and myself are serious foodies. Marcella's meals were among the best we tasted during our stay in the country ... which included eating at some of the best restaurants in Rome and Florence. Please extend our gratitude and fond appreciation to her. Warm regards,

September 2010Hi Lori, We had a great time at La Casaccia. The house is beautiful and Marcella was great. She is a great cook and very accommodating. She cooked dinner every night. Thanks again for all your help and I look forward to working with you in the future. I have already recommended Via Travel Design to many friends and I am sure you will take care of them. Once again, Thanks,

September 2010Dear Lori and James, We returned home two days ago and are still catching up with emails and paperwork. Our stay in Tuscany was phenomenal. La Casaccia is as beautiful as it was when we first stayed there 5 years ago. And Marcella greeted us all with a big smile and proceeded to feed us non stop. Her cooking is superb, and she made all our celebrations magical, with beautiful table settings and delicious food. Each night was better than the previous one. We also got the opportunity to meet Giorgio and Ilaria. Despite their busy schedule (they were setting up for a photo shoot) Ilaria gave us a tour of Rombolino. It is as beautiful as the photos you sent me. Our winery visit was one of the highlights of our stay. The workers were sorting the Sangiovese grapes into the press, and our host, Nadine, was very thorough in her explanations. Lunch was set in a very elegant room overlooking the Frescobaldi vineyards, and the wines we tasted were all excellent. This was truly an experience of a lifetime. Soli and I want to thank you for the 3 bottles of Veuve Clicquot you left for us. This was unexpected and much appreciated. We enjoyed them the night of our 30th anniversary celebration. Have a great time in Italy. Best regards,

June 2007The villa was just gorgeous! It was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures.

September 2006Our group had a wonderful stay at La Casaccia. Marcella's food was fantastic. We did a day trip to Florence, via train, on Tuesday (Marcella's day off). Very exhausting but fun. Our visits to Castillo Banfi and Poggio Antico, both south of Montalcino, were excellant. Good restaurants and tours followed by shopping in Montalcino. We would highly recommend these two stops for future travelers.

June 2006Hi James and Lori I can't thank you enough for helping us plan such a great trip. I can't begin to describe the beauty of our Tuscan getaway. I was one of the first to arrive at the home and enjoyed greeting each of my friends and watching their reaction to the home and the scenery. We couldn't stop saying how beautiful it was, and each time we did we truly meant it....it was incredible. Marcella was terrific and as you predicted we had her cook 5 of the nights.....why go out. Also thanks for the tip on the cars, what a disaster if we had not rented them. I truly want to take you two out as thanks and tell you all about it. Thank you again so very much.

October 2004It is a fabulous house and worked perfectly for our group of 7 couples. Marchella is FABULOUS! What a great cook and what fun we had with her. We are thinking about returning to this property with our family and I will definitely recommend it to some friends from South Carolina who are planning a trip with their friends.

September 2003James and Lori, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how much we appreciate your help in creating a perfect trip to celebrate my birthday. We will get you some pictures in the next few days. Thanks again,

Perched at the top of a small hill, overlooking the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia, lies La Casaccia. All ensuite accommodation well-suited to groups of friends or families.
It has been tastefully renovated by the same owners of Palazzuolo, Rombolino and Colle Aperto, Via Lambertesca in Florence and Palazzo San Pietro in Venice. The exterior stone has been restored, radiant heating has been installed in the floors and a dramatic swimming pool installed. The furnishing have been hand-selected by the owner's wife, an interior designer. She also designed elements of the villa, including the sinks, from her home furnishings boutique in Rome where most of her inventory is drawn from Italian artisans who create pieces based on her original designs.
The house can comfortably sleep eight couples plus three children. More infants can sleep in any bedroom by adding cots and cradles (each room is large enough to accommodate additional beds).
Please note: The location of this vacation home, as others in the area, requires driving on a "strada bianca" - a typical Tuscan white dirt road. When renting a vehicle for your holiday, we strongly suggest not renting any vehicle with a low-carriage.
GROUND FLOOR:
FIRST FLOOR:
Both an exterior and interior staircase lead to the first floor. Two stone-paved patios flank the external staircase. Inside, the living room measures 50 square meters and contains a handsome fireplace. French doors lead to the patio, dining area and gardens. The adjacent dining room has the capacity to seat 20 guests. The large state-of-the-art kitchen seats 12 guests. There is a huge hearth, two five-burner stoves, two large ovens, and a large double door refrigerator with an ice maker. The staircase from the lobby to first floor veranda allows access to six of the eight bedrooms.
OUTDOORS
The house is surrounded by three acres of lawned gardens and orchards. An ancient stone sheltered dining patio with built in barbecue seats up to 20 guests. The second patio is ideal for drinks at sunset. Beyond these patios is the solar panel heated infinity pool with jet streams (20 x 4 meters), surrounded by sun beds and lounge chairs. Positioned to the side of the lap pool is a large hot tub that can accommodate 8 guests.
