A vast, cool, modern space commanding a surpassing panorama of the world’s most celebrated urban landscape, Villa Fiesole is a supreme location for vacations. Florence being the crucible of Italy’s culture and language.
Set on the crest of the hills encircling Florence, Villa Fiesole is set in a two-acre grove of olive and cypress. Access from the road is via a private 100 m paved drive, with secure parking.
On the roof terrace atop the Villa, a long bathing pool commands an awe-inspiring outlook over the City of Florence, enticing guests to while away the afternoon shaded by cypress trees, followed by dining al fresco.
Published in various journals as a unique example of modern architecture, this house has been built to blend into the Fiesole hillside creating uninterrupted views of the garden and Florence using mostly glass and stone fronted cement. Extending over 5,000 sqm, the carefully landscaped grounds are terraced and planted with over 80 olive trees, cypress, oak, almond, pear, peach and fig trees and a rose garden. There is a gated drive leading to the villa with parking and a potential secondary entrance can be used from below the property.
Accommodation comprises five full-sized bedrooms, three in the main house, two in the attached apartment known as the Limonaia. Each bedroom has access to the balcony with an outlook over the City.
The main reception extends through French windows on to a spacious, well-shaded terrace with that peerless view over the city. To its rear, a pathway hewn from the rock face leads you out to the garden traversed by box-hedged gravel walks.
Timber double doors from the reception give on to the dining room, serviced by a kitchen fitted out with professional-standard equipment. Staff have separate access to the kitchen and can conveniently and discreetly serve guests in the dining room and reception. Utility and service areas including a laundry equipped with washing machines and dryer are located beneath the building.
A beautiful, luminous study is separated from the main reception by a corridor which also leads to the bedrooms. The study has views and access on to the garden—perfect for the host who must combine business with pleasure.
The two-bedroom apartment known as the Limonaia (conservatory) affords complete privacy, and is reached by an extraordinary curved external staircase from the main quarters, or from the garden.
The villa’s furnishings and fitments are of the best quality throughout, some antique, some purpose-made, chosen and specified for an ambience of elegance and unassuming luxury.
Villa Fiesole offers an incomparable setting for vacation and entertaining in the city that distils the essential experience of Italy, not to mention an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside; day trips to Lucca, Pisa, San Giminiano and Siena to mention just a few.

Florence rises on the banks of the Arno River in a vast plain surrounded by the Careggi, Fiesole, Settignano, Arcetri and Bellosguardo hills. The river divides the city into two parts: to the north the areas of Santa Maria Novella, San Giovanni and Santa Croce; to the south the "Diladdarno," the area of Santo Spirito. According to statistics produced by UNESCO, 60% of the world's most important works of art are located in Italy and approximately half of these are in Florence.
